RAYNERS LANE APPOINT `CELEBRITY` COACH
12/09/2005
GLS Football Hellenic Division One East club Rayners Lane have appointed a new coach this season in 33-year-old Matt Mansfield.

Mansfield comes with a good coaching background, especially in the field of women's football, and despite the poor start to the season the players have enjoyed his training sessions.

Mansfield's main claim to fame is that he appears regularly for the Arsenal ex-Pro & Celebrity X1. He qualifies through appearances as 'Matt the Builder' on Big Breakfast and also in Sky’s ‘Dream Team’.

This has worked to the Lane's advantage as they are hosting a game against the Arsenal side on Sunday, October 16th and it is hoped to turn this into a profitable fund raising event. The event will start at 11 am with fun activities for children and the big kick off will be at 3pm.

The Arsenal Celebrity X1 could include ex-players Brian Hornsby, Chris Whyte, Brian Sparrow, Perry Groves, Steve Williams, plus the likes of Terry Marsh (boxer), Tommy Walsh (Ground Force), Ralf Little (Royle Family), Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Angus Deayton (Have I Got News For You), Martin Offiah (Rugby League) and Mark Ramprakash (cricket).

Admission to the event will be by programme costing £5.00 with reduced prices for children, and any interested spectators can purchase these on the day and are very welcome to enjoy the hospitality at the Lane.
