.....AS DOES STANT AT ILKESTON 29/09/2005
Following a meeting on Monday with the chairman, Phil Stant decided that after a poor start to the season, he would resign his position as manager of UniBond League Premier Division club Ilkeston Town.
His Assistant Ernie Oliver as also left the club.
Ilkeston have placed on record its thanks for the work done by Stant (pictured) during the past two years and especially in getting them promotion to the Premier Division last season.
He leaves with the best wishes of Ilkeston Town Football Club.
Chairman Paul Millership added: "We had a meeting and Phil resigned.
"There was nothing nasty and we wish him all the best.
"He understands where the club is and offered his resignation."
Senior players Nigel Jemson and Craig Gaunt took charge of team affairs for Tuesday’s game at home to Wakefield-Emley.
As very often happens in these circumstances, the managerless club went on to win 2-0 thanks to a double by Mick Goddard.
