DARBY SET FOR BORO DEBUT 10/02/2006
New signing from Shrewsbury Town, Duane Darby, will make his debut for Nationwide North club Nuneaton Borough on Saturday at Manor Park against Moor Green, with manager Roger Ashby revealing the club are going all out for promotion.
The 32-year-old will lead Boro’s attack after putting pen-to-paper on an eighteen-month deal that will see him become the club’s Football in the Community coach.
And manager Ashby also admitting more new faces could be on their way into the club.
“Duane is a major signing for Nuneaton Borough and we wouldn’t be signing people like him and Derek Brown from Kettering if we didn’t want to win promotion,” said Ashby.
“I am looking at continuing to strengthen things and I am working on one or two moves that could see some more changes over the next couple of weeks.”
Darby’s (pictured) coaching role will see him play a major part in Boro’s Football In The Community scheme which is being revamped ahead of the club’s move to Liberty Way.
Ashby added: “Duane will be heavily involved in our Football In The Community scheme and has a big part to play with the club both on and off the field.”
Meanwhile, Boro's former Peterborough United defender Simon Rea will finalise a month-long loan move to Nationwide North rivals Redditch United
