NORTH FERRIBY BREAK NEW GROUND
18/08/2006
History was made and new ground broken at North Ferriby United with the announcement that Gary Bradshaw had become the first player in the UniBond League Premier Division club’s 72-year history to sign as a contracted player.

“Having reached the level we now have, stability is crucial if we are to cement out position and continue our progress,” stated chairman Les Hare. “A crucial part of that process is to secure our assets on the field and nothing represents that better than Gary Bradshaw.

“We have a young and talented squad which is being eyed enviously by a number of other clubs, with particular interest falling on Gary, and this contract protects our interests. When Gary joined Cheltenham last season, we got no fiscal reward from it and that is a situation that I don’t want to happen again.”

There is no doubt that the prolific exploits of the former Hull City hitman will again arouse interest from clubs higher up the food chain, so the club’s position is not only understandable but, surprisingly, in total tune with that of Bradshaw (pictured).

“Signing a contract with the club makes no real difference to me but I felt badly for the club when I moved to Cheltenham as they got nothing back for all that they have done for me over the last couple of seasons,” commented Bradshaw. “If I am lucky enough to get another shot at the pro game, I want to make sure that Ferriby don’t miss out.

“When I came back here in March on loan it was like coming home. My family and friends were delighted and I settled in straight away. I’d missed Ferriby, especially the people, and they’d missed me, so it suited us all.”
