GEDLING RELEASE STATEMENT OVER SACKING 13/12/2006
Roland Ash, chairman of Northern Counties East League club Gedling Town, has released a statement after the club parted company with manager Gary Hayward at the weekend.
In it, he says: "The official dismissal of Gedling Town manager Gary Hayward (pictured) was given following Saturday's FA Vase game against West Auckland Town and confirmed again in conversation between the manager and chairman, Roland Ash, on Sunday morning.
"The board of directors were unanimous in dismissing Hayward following his indisciplines during and after the above game.
"Gedling Town will be severely penalised by the Football Association following events that had led up to his dismissal.
"The board of directors have appointed, on a caretaker basis, until further notice, the club captain James Jepson.
"He will be assisted by Devon White, the ex-Nottingham Forest and Notts County centre forward as first-team coach.”
White began his career with Arnold and went on to make over 350 Football League appearances with Lincoln, Bristol Rovers, Cambridge United, QPR, Notts County (twice), Watford and Shrewsbury and scored 104 goals.
"Devon will be taking the training sessions and assisting on match days,” added Ash.
"The club do not wish this event to escalate any further than the ex-manager and Gedling Town have parted company for reasons stated as fact by the club.
"Anyone wishing to speak to me can do so by using emailing me at roland_923@fsmail.net."
