YORK PUT HALF A MILLION PRICE TAG ON STRIKER
14/01/2007
Nationwide Conference National club York City have applied a reported £500,000 transfer valuation on their star striker Clayton Donaldson in the wake of interest from several clubs.

Coca-Coal Championship Wolverhampton Wanderers and League One side Scunthorpe United are the latest clubs to be added to the list of Donaldson's admirers which already includes Hibernian and Peterborough United.

The prolific striker has raced to the top of the Conference scoring charts with twenty goals in just twenty-nine appearances for City this season.

His outstanding record this season has not only attracted interest from higher profile clubs but has also earned him his first cap for the England non-league side.

Peterbrough are understood to have had a bid of £100,000 turned down by City for Donaldson (pictured), who totals thirty-eight goals in seventy-four appearances for the Minstermen.

However, Posh may be out of the running as they have already spent £800,000 on players during the January transfer window, including a Conference record £260,000 for Stevenage Borough winger George Boyd.
