PITMEN SUCCESSFUL WITH OLIVER AFTER MISSING OUT ON BIRCH 15/01/2007
UniBond League Premier Division club Hednesford Town have signed Dean Oliver on a month`s loan from Premiership Sheffield United.
The 18-year-old striker went straight into the squad for the game at Whitby Town on Saturday.
Manager Phil Starbuck went to Sheffield to watch Oliver in action on Thursday evening. After the game discussions with Sheffield officials set the wheels in motion for the move to go ahead.
With great assistance from the Blades the forms were signed mid-afternoon and faxed to the FA and the UniBond league with just over an hour to spare to allow him to play at the Turnbull Ground.
Oliver`s arrival eased the pain of losing Gary Birch (pictured above), who was made an offer to join The Pitmen.
The Lincoln City player was thinking about the move to Keys Park along with an alternative offer from Hamilton Acedemicals, so it came as a surprise when the player informed the club on Friday that he had signed an eighteen-month contract with promotion-rivals AFC Telford United.
