`PORT APPOINT DAVENPORT 16/01/2007
Former Macclesfield Town and Bangor City boss Peter Davenport has resigned from UniBond League Division One side Colwyn Bay to take up the manager's job at Nationwide Conference National outfit Southport.
Davenport (pictured) was appointed manager of Bangor in June 2001 but resigned in December 2005 before taking over at Llanelian Road.
A former England international, he played at Manchester United, Sunderland and Middlesborough as well as Airdrie, St Johnstone and Stockport County.
His managerial career began as caretaker at Southport, before a move to Macclesfield Town and then the Citizens.
Ironically, current current Bangor and former Peterborough boss Steve Bleasdale had been linked with the vacancy at Haig Avenue, although he denied any interest in the post.
