SHAKER BRASS BECOMES A TIGER 16/07/2007
Blue Square North club Hyde United have signed former York City player-manager Chris Brass.
Brass, 32 later this month, has a wealth of experience from the Football League and is the defender Tigers` boss Steve Waywell has been after for a few weeks.
Having played for the likes of Burnley and Halifax Town, Brass (pictured) was sacked as manager of York in November 2004.
He remained at York as a player and, after suffering a serious ligament injury, joined Harrogate Town on loan in September 2005 in an attempt to regain match-fitness. He joined Southport on loan in November 2005, returning to York in January 2006. The following day he was released from his contract with the Minstermen in January 2006 and a week later joined Bury as a player.
Brass was released by Bury at the end of last season, but was asked to return to pre-season training to prove his fitness before a decision will be made on his future. He was appointed as Bury's Centre of Excellence manager earlier this month and signed for Hyde after a successful trial spell.
