ROOKS SNAP UP BARNESS 14/08/2007
Former Chelsea, Charlton and Plymouth full back Anthony Barness has joined Blue Square South club Lewes, and was included in the squad for Saturday's opener against Hayes & Yeading United.
Thirty-four-year-old Barness (pictured) started his career at Charlton Athletic and signed for Chelsea where he spent from 1992-1996 during which time he was loaned to Middlesbrough and Southend.
He then rejoined Charlton in 1996 before moving to Bolton Wanderers in 2000 until 2005 when he signed for Plymouth Argyle.
However, he made only two first-team appearances under Ian Holloway at Home Park last season and was released from his contract in January 2007.
Two months later he joined Blue Square Premier side Grays Athletic where he stayed until the end of the 2006/07 season.
