BARROW BOY FOR STAFFORD
30/06/2002
Phil Robinson, the new player-manager of Dr Martens League Premier Division club Stafford Rangers, continues to add to his squad.

The squad former Hereford United player-coach Robinson inherited has been decimated since ex-boss Ian Painter left for Hednesford Town, with the likes of regulars Chris Brindley, Darren Simkin, Stuart Ryder, Paul Kiely and Scott Dundas all departing for pastures new.

However, Robinson's newly-appointed assistant boss Barry Powell was instrumental in recruiting Rangers' latest signing.

Defender Lee Barrow (pictured) has reversed the trend and made the move from Hednesford to Stafford to be re-united with Powell, whom he played under at both Keys Park and League of Wales outfit Aberystwyth Town.

Barrow is also familiar to Robinson as the pair played together at Torquay United, and the player-manager said: "When I arrived at Marston Road it became obvious that the defence needed strengthening. Lee can play anywhere in defence and he will prove a very important signing for us."
