KING BRINGS IN JOEL 03/03/2008
Ryman League Premier Division leaders Chelmsford City have added to their wealth of defensive talent by completing the capture of former Chelsea, Dundee and Columbus Crew player Joel Kitamirike.
Kitamirike, 23 and originally hailing from Uganda but developing in East London, can boast a UEFA Cup appearance for the Stamford Bridge outfit against Hapoel Tel Aviv as recently as 2001 and spent a period in the United States of America with MLS outfit Crew.
With several key defenders carrying knocks or injuries, the management team have acted to bring in reinforcements and the calibre of the ex-Brentford and Mansfield Town prospect, who has also represented England at under-15 level, will have pleased Jeff King (pictured above) and Glenn Pennyfather.
Kitamirike (right) has spent the majority of this campaign in the Blue Square Premier at Weymouth and had full international clearance to enable him to be selected for the trip to Folkestone Invicta.
Having spent time being nurtured at Chelsea alongside the likes of Marcel Desailly and Gianfranco Zola, it’s hoped the Clarets` newcomer can have a positive impact on City`s push for the title.
