MELLON BECOMES THIRD NEW ROVER 19/03/2008
Gary Norton, manager of UniBond League Division One South club Gresley Rovers, has completed his third signing since a transfer sanction was lifted last Friday with the capture of midfielder Lee Mellon.
Norton`s capture of the 27-year-old former Shepshed Dynamo midfielder follows the arrivals of Gavin Saunders and Brian Woodall.
Former Hinckley United striker Woodall and ex-Willenhall Town midfielder Saunders made their debuts in the 1-0 defeat at Warrington Town last Saturday, with Norton moving swiftly after the sanction, imposed by the UniBond League because of Rovers' failure to provide documents to the Football Association, was lifted.
And with the Moat boss looking towards next season after writing off his side`s play-off hopes following the defeat at Cantilever Park, more signings could be on the way.
Norton (pictured) said: "Lee is an experienced midfielder who is very keen to come in and give it a go until the end of the season.
"As well as being impressed with him on the pitch, he is the type of character we have been looking for and I think he will help drive other people on.
"We have been after him for five weeks, but we have had to wait because of the transfer embargo.
"Subject to the paperwork going through, he will be available for Friday, and hopefully there might be a couple more new faces in the next week or so."
