GREEN SWITCHES TO DEVON 02/06/2008
Blue Square Premier club Torquay United have continued to strengthen with manager Paul Buckle clinching the services of Oxford United striker Matt Green on a two-year deal.
The 21-year-old joined Oxford for the second half of the season and put in some fine performances, scoring ten goals in fourteen starts.
However, Oxford were unable to tie him down to a new deal at Kassam Stadium and despite interest from League Two club Barnet, Green has decided to link up with Buckle at Plainmoor.
"I'm delighted, Matt will bring us goals, he is young but has already played in the Championship and can more than hold his own at this level," said Buckle (pictured).
"He is quick and strong and impressed me greatly when he played against us last season.
"Matt is at a good age to come here and this is a brilliant investment for Torquay United."
Green added: "This is a lovely area and I have played here with Oxford and saw that the club was already going places.
"Paul Buckle is a young manager and is as ambitious as I am. I have been very impressed with what I have seen at the club.
"I have come here to score goals, I have played in the Championship with Cardiff and I am looking forward to getting back into the Football League with Torquay United."
