PORT PART COMPANY WITH PLAYER-COACH 10/02/2009
Player-coach John Doolan has left Blue Square North promotion-chasers Southport by mutual consent after discussions with manager Liam Watson over the future direction of the squad.
The pair reached an amicable agreement and the club has wished Doolan every success in his future career as a player, coach and manager.
With more than 500 Football League appearances to his credit and fourteen years as a professional, Doolan (pictured) boasts a wealth of experience.
Having started at Everton, his break into first-team football came at Mansfield Town before a £60,000 move to Barnet, where he spent five years.
A return of twenty-seven goals throughout his career illustrates that he is a player whose contribution is usually to the less glamorous side of things.
After being promoted in successive seasons at Doncaster Rovers, Doolan, 34, represented Blackpool before helping Rochdale to the League Two play-off final.
