WALCOTT EXTENDS STAINES STAY
25/10/2010
Jacob Walcott has given Blue Square Bet South club Staines Town a huge boost by extending his stay at Wheatsheaf Park for another month.

The on-loan Reading striker’s loan deal expired last week, but after holding talks with the Royals the youngster has agreed terms on a longer spell with the Swans.

Walcott, the 18-year-old cousin of Arsenal and England star Theo, is a former England Youth international but has been restricted to reserve games at the Madjeski Stadium, so he is enjoying playing first-team football with Staines.

"Steve Cordery has given me plenty of game time and I have been scoring goals," Walcott said.

"At the moment I am about fifth in the pecking order at Reading so it is better for me to stay and get regular games with Staines."

Walcott has had to adapt to playing with a number of different strike partners in his time with the Swans but believes his current link-up with Marc Charles-Smith is the most promising.

"I am enjoying playing with a taller striker like Marc because he can win flick-ons, hold the ball up well and bring other people into the game.

"But we have lots of good players here and everyone has made me feel welcome. It seems like I’ve been here for two seasons."

And the teenager has not ruled out staying beyond his new twenty-eight-day deal, which would see him play his final game for the club away to Eastleigh on November 13th.

He added: "I am just going to take each game as it comes. Reading have not said anything about staying longer yet but I would not rule it out."
