BAKER GETS BLYTH JOB 15/11/2002
UniBond League Premier Division club Blyth Spartans have announced that Paul Baker has been appointed as manager with immediate effect.
Baker played as a professional in the Nationwide Leagues for more than ten years with spells at a
number of clubs including Hartlepool and Carlisle United, where he assisted the team manager.
Baker is accredited as a UEFA "B" level coach and has been employed in that capacity by Newcastle United at their football Academy.
Baker has also played for Blyth Spartans on a number of occasions.
The directors and management of the club are confident that Baker's credentials and personality will
contribute greatly to the future of the club.
Tom Wade, who has acted as caretaker-manager since the dismissal of John Charlton, will be assisting Baker during a transition period.
Meanwhile, work has now started on the major ground improvements at Croft Park and with this appointment the club is now looking forward to several years of steady progress aimed at resolving the well documented historical financial situation at the club and advancing to the next stage of non-League football.
