WILDER RECRUITS 22/11/2002
Chris Wilder, manager of Nationwide Conference club Halifax Town, finally got his man when he signed central defender Mark Monington on a month's loan from Third Division Boston United.
Monington (pictured), who made more than 300 League appearances in spells with Burnley, Rotherham and Rochdale, is set to partner Shaun Garnett in Saturday's home game with Stevenage Borough.
Wilder was delighted to have got the 32-year-old on board, having been thwarted earlier in the campaign. "I know Mark from our days at Rotherham and have been tracking him for some time," said Wilder.
"He has bags of experience and I have been after him for a while. He was captain at Boston last season as they on the Conference title, but has not been in the picture this time."
Wilder has also returned to one of his former clubs, Sheffield United, to sign promising young striker Lewis Killeen.
The 20-year-old has moved to the Shay on a month's loan and is set to make his Conference debut against Stevenage Borough on Saturday.
Killeen was voted the Blades' young player-of-the-year last season after finishing as the club's leading Academy goalscorer.
He was handed a League debut as a substitute by United boss Neil Warnock on the final day of last season.
And Halifax will be hoping that Killeen has the same kind of impact as Ryan Mallon, who enjoyed a highly successful three-month spell at the club on loan from the Blades earlier this season.
Wilder has completed the signing of former Sheffield United and Swansea midfielder Charlie Hartfield from Welsh Premier outfit Caernarfon Town.
