TITCHENER ALL SET TO PLAY FOR WITTON 13/08/2011
Witton Albion's star signing this summer will play in today’s Evo-Stik League Division One North season opener at home to Ossett.
Alex Titchener (pictured) completed his move from Blue Square Bet North newcomers Colwyn Bay yesterday after the Welsh FA gave him permission to feature in Brian Pritchard’s team.
He is likely to start in attack with another fresh face, teenager Liam Newman.
“We want to kick off with a win pure and simple,” said Pritchard.
“Having Alex on board gives us a great chance to do that.”
He has added former Greenock Morton attacker Mark Buchan to his squad for today’s Evo-Stik NPL Division One South curtain-raiser too.
Striker Nathan Southern and stopper Daniel Schwarz head to North West Counties League pair Alsager Town and Winsford United respectively to improve their match sharpness.
Both will stay for an initial month.
Pritchard added: “They need games.”
He will check on Danny Andrews’ fitness before picking the starting line-up to take on Ossett after the wide man sat out Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat against Crewe with an injury.
Adam Bayley (knee) is definitely out.
Meanwhile full back Matthew Wood remains registered as an Albion player despite receiving an offer from a higher-ranked club.
