MILLS IMPRESSED BY NUNEATON SET-UP 20/09/2011
Gary Mills is hoping to repeat his previous experience of Blue Square Bet North after joining Nuneaton Town.
The 30-year-old has spent his whole career in the Football League and Conference with the exception of a title winning season with Kettering.
The former Rushden and Diamonds midfielder says he is targeting another promotion to the non league elite, this time with Boro.
He said: “If you look at the set-up here it’s geared to be in the Conference. The manager has put a good team together and the manager himself was a big reason for signing.
“I won this league with Kettering so I know what it takes to win the league. That’s the only season I’ve played in this league so I knows it’s tough and physical.
“You’ve got to win your battles.”
Manager Kevin Wilkin secured Mills’ signature after a long pursuit as he signed from Bath City last week.
Mills says he found commuting from Northampton challenging, but he bears no ill will to the Blue Square Bet Premier strugglers.
“It’s nice to be here. It took a while to sort but I’m looking to get my head down and get in the team.
“The travelling was a problem at Bath. I had an agreement with the manager that if it wasn’t working out after a couple of months I could go.
“There are no hard feelings towards Bath and I wish them well for the season,” he said.
