PLATT SET FOR TALKS ON FUTURE 27/10/2011
Jez George is set for further talks with Conal Platt over his future with Blue Square Bet Premier side Cambridge United after his return from a loan spell with Telford.
The left-winger made just three appearances for the Bucks during his month there and last featured as a substitute in their 2-0 defeat at home to Ebbsfleet two weeks ago.
And Telford boss Andy Sinton decided not to extend the temporary deal, which ended yesterday.
George has made no bones about the fact Platt (pictured) does not belong in his long-term plans at the R Costings Abbey, believing he does not fit the mould of player he is looking for on the flanks.
Platt had slipped behind Harrison Dunk and Peter Winn in the pecking order despite scoring two goals prior to his move to the Bucks Head.
He is also understood to be one of United’s highest earners, despite being under the wage ceiling set up this season as part of a 25 per cent cut in the playing budget.
George said: "Conal is back with us. He didn’t really do enough for Telford that they wanted to keep him any longer. It wasn’t that he had injuries, he just wasn’t selected.
"I’d have thought it would be frustrating from Conal’s point of view because he had an opportunity to go there and play at a good club in our league.
"For whatever reason, it’s not quite worked out for him at Telford.
"We’ll have to sit down and see where we go from here, because it’s well documented the situation he’s in."
