HOLDSWORTH AGREES TO STAY 19/04/2012
David Holdsworth looks set to remain in charge of Blue Square Bet Premier club Lincoln City next season after striking a deal to stay at Sincil Bank.
The Imps chief (pictured) revealed he has reached an agreement, in principle, that will keep him in the hotseat following talks with chairman Bob Dorrian and the board on Tuesday night.
Holdsworth's deal as City boss was due to expire at the end of the season, but having saved the club from relegation, Lincoln were keen to retain his services.
And the former Birmingham defender, who succeeded Steve Tilson in October, is excited by the prospect of leading the club next term.
"In principle, everything has been agreed and I will stay," he said.
"I had an informal meeting with the board and we discussed certain aspects and things have come out of that will be said at the right time.
"But, in principle, everything is moving along very happily and we are delighted with where we are right now.
"There are going to be a lot of decisions that need to be made that reflect the position of the football club in terms of finances and stabilising is going to be so important.
"But overall I will be delighted to be manager here."
Holdsworth's new deal at Lincoln is likely to involve a contract unlike his previous deal which was based on an understanding with the club's board.
"I was happy not to have a contract last time and a shake of the hand is as good as anything for me - I am a loyal man," he said.
"But I think we will do it properly this time with a bit of paper."
