BARROW TOWN PREPARATIONS GOING WELL 08/06/2012
East Midlands Counties League side Barrow Town's preparations ahead of the new season continue to run smoothly as they look to build a squad capable of emulating last years fifth place finish.
The Riversiders' superb run to the Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup saw the Leicestershire Club hit the headlines for all the right reasons during the early part of last season, and the benefits of that run are starting to show as the Club continues to move in the right direction – both on and off the pitch.
With the majority of last season's squad having already agreed terms to remain at Riverside Park, the club's joint First Team Managers John Folwell and Adam Beazeley have spent hours on the phone over the last month speaking to an ever growing number of new players who wish to join the Clubs ranks. A number of those players will join up with the Riversiders when pre season training commences on the 30 June as the Club aim to fine tune their squad to mount a championship challenge.
Meanwhile off the pitch the ground will have over £10,000 invested in to the pitch and spectator facilities as the Club look to develop the ground and build for the future. The pitch works were completed last month, but whilst the pitch re establishes itself it means that the Riversiders will be restricted to just one pre season fixture at home to Loughborough Dynamo on July 28th.
Clashes against Step 5 Clubs Loughborough University and Stewarts and Lloyds Corby are already in place amongst others, and will ensure that the Riversiders will endure a tough pre season. The Club are still seeking one further fixture however, and any Club that is able to host a fixture on Saturday 14th July is asked to email btfcwebmaster@hotmail.co.uk in the first instance.
