YOUNG IDENTIFIES AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT 14/07/2012
Manager Neil Young has identified the three areas in which he feels Blue Square Bet North club Chester FC need to strengthen.
The Blues boss understands calls from supporters for a ‘big-name’ striker.
He also wants a ball-playing centre-midfielder and cover at left-back.
But Young (pictured) may have to use the loan market to get his men.
He said: “I know what I need but I can’t just go out and get any player as we have a budget and we need to stick to it – and I’m sure the supporters will understand that.
“I know everyone is crying out for a big-name centre-forward but the money that’s being commanded by the centre-forwards that we need is a lot and we’re not going to put the club in jeopardy by overspending.
“I’d also like to bring in another left-sided player and another midfielder who can play. Antoni Sarcevic and Levi Mackin can do it but it’s about strength in depth and you’ve got to remember Antoni is still only 20 years of age and Levi is coming back from a serious injury and not a lot of football before that.
“So they are the areas we want to strengthen and I’ll see what the club can do financially.
“We may use the loan market and there are players who we have identified who we could possibly get in on loan but at the minute their clubs are still getting their squads in place.”
