UNCERTAINTY OVER LAWSON'S DULWICH FUTURE 18/07/2012
Omarr Lawson has told Ryman League Division One South club Dulwich Hamlet that he will not sign a new contract.
The club will still be entitled to compensation for the youngster, who is set for a switch to the Football League.
Lawson impressed on trial at Watford last season but boss Sean Dyche’s dismissal means a move there now appears to be off.
The Pozzo family recently bought the Hornets and appointed Gianfranco Zola as the manager.
Hamlet boss Gavin Rose (pictured) said: “Omarr’s been advised by his advisors to not sign an extension to his contract, so we haven’t continued the Watford thing as a club because there is not much in it for us.
“As far as I understand, because of the takeover, Watford won’t be doing any trials at the moment.
“Omarr’s registered to us via his contract, so there is still compensation. The lad has come through our academy and first team but I wouldn’t imagine it will be much because of the channels he is looking to do it through.
“I’ve got the feeling that the lad is being advised certain things that don’t sit too well with him. It is a big step going from Dulwich to Championship football - the lure is playing tricks with his mind. We’re all very disappointed.
"Myself, Junior Kadi and Kevin James have worked really hard with the lad for many years and now he has got to a certain level other people have taken an interest. This is what happens.
“But we’ve got the situation where many other lads are loyal to us and the club.”
