LYNCH HAPPY WITH NEW-LOOK SQUAD
17/08/2012
Kevin Lynch is content for people to write off Marine after a summer of upheaval at the Evo-Stik League Premier Division club.

The Mariners begin the new Evo-Stik League Premier Division season on Saturday when they welcome Eastwood Town to the Arriva Stadium.

Manager Lynch was forced to delve deeper into the transfer market this summer than he may have expected to following the departures of a clutch of senior players.

Neil Harvey, Aaron Rey and Sam Barnes all left the club for Hednesford Town whilst Louis Barnes has joined Conference neighbours Southport, after a successful trial.

Although initially rocked by the exits, Lynch worked hard to plug the gaps and managed to sign quality replacements in Karl Noon, Andy Fowler and Danny Grannon, for example.

Despite the new faces, Lynch (pictured) says Marine are being overlooked in some quarters – something he is more than happy about.

“That has been an ongoing comment throughout the summer,” said the Marine boss.

“People have been asking ‘where are the goals coming from?’ and ‘what are they going to be like having lost four key players?’.

“But I am relatively happy with the investment we’ve put in.

“These new players give us a different approach to how we were last season.

“Now we have a plan B that we can call upon.”
