SENIOR TROPHY JOY FOR NINE KENT LEAGUE SIDES 07/10/2012
Nine Kent Hurlimann League sides went through in the Kent Senior Trophy on Saturday, with two more ties to be decided.
Beckenham Town won 2-1 at home to Invicta side Eltham Palace. After a goalless first half Alex Wilkes finally broke the deadlock in the 78th minute. Palace came back to equalise through Ben Smith four minutes later but Alfie Nunn was the savior when he hit the winner seven minutes from full time. Beckenham Now host Woodstock Sports next time.
Lordswood went to ex-Kent League and currently Kent Invicta League side Crockenhill and came away winning 5-0. A Richard Dimmock (pictured) hat-trick and singles from Joe Kane and Mark Murison saw Lordswood safely through to meet Invicta side Woodstock Park in round two.
Cray Valley PM went through without kicking a ball as opponants Crown Alexandra withdrew before the game. Cray meet the winners of Tuesday night's Canterbury City-Bearsted tie.
Deal Town won an all-Kent League tie 3-2 at home to Rochester United. Deal's Scott Punton opened the scoring after 22 minutes. Within seven minutes Rochester's Michael Brown had levelled the scores. Liam Quinn restored the Deal lead on 36 minutes for a 2-1 half time scoreline. Sam Pain added Deal's third before League top scorer Stuart Zanone pulled one back for Rochester but Deal hung on for a home tie against Invicta League Seven Acre & Sidcup.
Erith Town breezed through winning 4-0 at Orpington of the Kent Invicta League. Goals from Lee Craig, Chris Walker and Tyrus Gordon-Young gave the dockers a 3-0 half time lead. After the braek Walker added the fourth, his second, to give Erith a trip to Invicta side Bridon Ropes in the next round.
Woodstock Sports had a 4-1 away win at Rusthall to give them that trip to Beckenham Town in the next round. George Blake hit the first strike for Woodstock in the third minute then Ashley Baverstock doubled to give Sports a 2-0 half time lead. Joe Sands added Woodstock's third before Matt Thompson pulled one back for the hosts. Baverstock finished things off with his second of the game on 68 minutes.
Fisher travelled to Sutton Athletic (Invicta) and came home 4-2 victors. Sean Heather gave Sutton the early lead then Budar Mohammed levelled for a 1-1 half time score. Richie Monan gave the lead to the visitors just after the restart the Mohammed added the third and fourth for his hat-trick. Sutton's John Shelvin slotted home a penalty but the die was cast and it's Fisher who travel to VCD Athletic in the next round.
Tunbridge Wells had more of a battle to win 3-2 at home to Kent Football United (Invicta). Indeed United had a 2-0 lead at half time, goals coming from Alex Tisse and Tolu Popoola. In the second preiod Jack Harris and Mike Shelly restored the equilibrium before penalty king Andy McMath hit the winner from the spot with just four minutes left to play. Wells now visit Ashford United.
VCD Athletic host Fisher next time around after their comfortable 3-0 home win against Sevenoaks Town. James Duckworth and Laurence Collins scored one each for a 2-0 half time lead. Uche Ibermere finished off with the third in the 75th minute.
In Division One, Whitstable Town versus Chatham Town was postponed. Maidstone United go back to Second after their 3-2 win at home to VCD Athletic. Phoenix Sports drew 3-3 with Deal Town.
