TONBRIDGE STAR IN INTENSIVE CARE 19/10/2012
A Tonbridge Angels footballer is in intensive care in hospital almost a week after being injured in a Blue Square Bet South game.
Striker Mikel Suarez (pictured) clashed heads with a Tonbridge Angels team-mate when they both went for a header in the game against Farnborough.
The 26-year-old has been under observation after suffering a head injury in the collision with team-mate Lee Browning during the second half of the 4-1 Blue Square Bet South defeat at Farnborough.
Both players were carried off and taken to hospital, with Browning released later in the evening, after also being treated for a head wound.
Now Mikel's family have flown over from Spain to be at his bedside.
A message on the Tonbridge Angels' website said: "We all send Mikel our best wishes for a quick and speedy recovery."
Boss Tommy Warrilow said last night: “We are hoping to release more information about Mikel’s condition.
"Our medical staff are keeping in touch with the situation. His parents have flown over from Spain to be at his bedside and I hope to talk to them when I can.”
