EXETER DEBT TO TIVVY
24/03/2003
If Exeter City avoids relegation from the Football League to the Nationwide Conference, the Grecians may consider thanking their Dr. Martens League Premier Division neighbours Tiverton Town.

Exeter City allowed club captain Chris Curran to join Tivvy on loan to regain match fitness after a long injury lay off. But the then Grecians manager Neil NcNab recalled the central defender when his club’s plight at the bottom of the Third Division became desperate.
Within a few days City dismissed McNab but new boss, Gary Peters, has continued to use Curran in his squad. Peters saw his new club lift themselves off the bottom for the first time since he took over the reins.

Meanwhile, Tiverton's injury problems are easing. Steve Winter returned as a substitute in the midweek goalless draw against Dover Athletic. Luke Vinnicombe, who fractured his leg in the home defeat by Grantham Town last September, is back in full training and could be available within weeks. Only central defender Steve Peters will then be left on the sidelines.

The Yellows received more good news when Stoke City agreed to allow goalkeeper Ben Foster (pictured) to complete his three-month loan spell at Ladysmead.
