'I did it the right way,' - Barrow's Grant Holt on King's Lynn departure

Grant Holt feels he did nothing wrong when leaving King's Lynn Town for Vanarama National League side Barrow less than a month after signing for the Linnets.

The Norwich City legend was on a weekly contract at Lynn and has taken the opportunity to join one of his former clubs in his home county of Cumbria – and step two levels up the non-league pyramid.

"They always knew I was going to try and progress and go up, at the time King's Lynn didn't want to give me a year's contract, which was their option, and that's just the way it is," the 36-year-old striker said.

"Like in any walk of life when you get an opportunity to go up, I did it the right way, I spoke to (Lynn boss) Ian Culverhouse, who is the person I have to speak to and Ian spoke to the chairman (Stephen Cleeve) and that's how it's done.

"There's been a lot of inaccuracies said, I'm not going to get into a big debate about it but there have been things said which weren't right – but that's football at times, things get twisted sometimes and that's my only disappointment with it really."
