Non-League gave me lessons an academy could not says former England star Les Ferdinand

He is famous for scoring goals for the likes of QPR, Newcastle United and Spurs but Les Ferdinand says his non-league upbringing gave him a solid grounding for his career.

The former England star, who scored five goals in seventeen games for the Three Lions, actually began his career with non-league clubs Southall and Hayes.

That led him into a career that saw him scored over one hundred Premier League goals and become a fans favourite at a number of clubs.

Now a Director of Football at QPR, Ferdinand talks to Non-League Daily's new YouTube channel and discusses his non-league career and the search for the next non-league star.

Tremendous food for thought there! So many clubs are responsible for the loss of so much young footballing talent due to the inability to look ahead and identify long term potential!
