Havant & Waterlooville boss Bradbury rues team's soft underbelly at home

Lee Bradbury was left wondering what might have been after his Hawks surrendered more points at Westleigh Park last night.

The home side were in control of the National League South clash against Chelmsford City, thanks to a first-half strike from Jason Prior.

They didn't kill the game off, though, and deep into stoppage-time at the end of the game, Michael Spillane grabbed a leveller for the visitors.

It is not the first time the Hawks have come up short on home turf this term.

Bradbury's side have won just twice in nine league games at Westleigh Park – with only Poole Town and Whitehawk registering fewer home victories in the division.

It is a frustrating statistic for the boss, whose side sit just two points off the top of the table in fourth position.

"It is another late sickener and hard to take," said Bradbury. "We tried to be positive by going for the second goal to kill the game off."

"Their goal came from a free-kick which never was and allowed them to throw bodies forward. We have got to learn how to defend leads at home."
